Dr. Nell Recognized as Exemplary Psychiatrist by NAMI

Rocio Nell, MD, CPE, has been selected by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), Washington, DC, for an 2005 Exemplary Psychiatrist Award.

Dr. Nell was nominated by the local NAMI Chapter, NAMI PA Montgomery County, Glenside, PA.

This year's awards are being presented to “psychiatrists noteworthy for developing, directing, and/or providing exemplary services designed to help people living with mental illnesses in criminal justice systems, including the prevention of unnecessary incarceration.”

In its nomination, NAMI PA Montgomery County made note of Dr. Nell’s longstanding personal leadership and involvement in MCES’s nationally recognized jail diversion efforts on behalf of individuals with serious mental illness in Montgomery County.

NAMI is hosting a presentation awards breakfast for 2005 recipients during this year’s American Psychiatric Association’s Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, May 23, 2005.
