MCES Commends Officers For Crisis Response

Monday, October 30, 2017

MCES presented commendations for meritorious service to all the members of the Limerick Township Police Department and the West Region SWAT for safely resolving a very dangerous situation.

In January 2017, Limerick Township Police attempted to serve an emergency protection from abuse order. Police found the individual parked along the curb with a handgun. The officers took cover and contained the scene. An "officer needing assistance" alert went out.

The Montgomery County SWAT-West Region immediately responded. Negotiations began and as a result of a collective effort, the individual surrendered several hours later. Officers on the scene demonstrated a full awareness and understanding of the mental health of the individual.
