MCES Presents at Psychiatric Grand Rounds at Geisinger Medical Center
The problem of suicidal behavior after an inpatient psychiatric discharge and MCES's efforts to reduce the risk of suicide among the more than 2600 discharges yearly from our hospital were the topics of a presentation by Tony Salvatore at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA, in January.
Tony spoke to an audience of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, therapists, social workers, and other clinicians representing the three community hospital-based psychiatric inpatient units and a geripsychiatric unit at four Geisinger facilities in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Tony reviewed the literature on post-discharge suicide and some of the measures that MCES has adopted to address the problem. A copy of Tony's presentation, “Post-discharge Suicidal Behavior Risk,” is available by clicking here.
